Most people agree that the presence of U.S. troops in the area has a persuasive effect. But you have really shown what the best answer is, when you admit Iran is changing internally. If so, then why not WORK with the Iranians to deal with the problem at hand, and with a dictator they hate even more than the U.S. does (and for good reasons, obviously)?

The administration has chosen war and refused any other alternative because war sounds like a macho thing and is always good for a few more votes from those with like minds.
