Taking Saddam out is one of many steps on the road to making sure there are no more 9/11s There is no such road. Not only is eliminating Saddam not going to weaken Al-Qaeda one bit, but there will be serious backlash and recruitment into anti-American terrorist groups as a result. And that is the best case scenario. A worse case scenario could be if the invasion of Iraq takes longer, and sheds more blood, than expected and serves to unite the loonies of this planet against Americans, on which they declare open season. How fast can you run, pops?
