Bush Sr. laid down clear goals and stuck to them. Those goals included the liberation of Kuwait and did not include the ousting of Saddam. The latter would have meant America would have to stick around much longer than Bush Sr. intended. Bush Sr. screwed up. He aided and abetted Saddam during the 80s, didn't take him out when he had the chance in the 90s and let the Kurds get slaughtered. There are many reasons why he did not get re-elected. ted
