<The PR battle is going to significantly favor Bush as OBL is about to be captured or killed. Imagine the support Bush will get globally if he pulls the trigger on Saddam shortly after OBL bites the dust or is captured. Get Blair's chestnuts out of the fire, too.>

It would be a good thing if we captured OBL, but it will change exactly nothing re Iraq. Through this entire debate, for the last 9+ months, the Hawks have been engaging in overconfidence and wishful thinking. Over and over, the Hawks made assumptions about the world, which turned out to be false. They made a series of assumptions, about other countries supporting us, or at least not opposing us, and in almost every case, those hopes turned out to be false hope. Germany, France, Russia, China, Mexico, Canada, and now possibly England. The Hawks have no chance of success, if they don't begin to inject a little Realism into their thinking process. Truly, there seems to be this GroupThink among the Hawks, that Resolve and Vigor can substitute for thought. ShockAndAwe works only as a very selectively used tool. By using it as our habitual response to all problems, we have created a global coalition to Contain and Deter the U.S. We, not Iraq, are seen as the Rogue State. Capturing OBL will not change that, not even a little.
