I know there's money in alternative energy. Especially these days. Wind power in particular has really come down in price and is taking off in a big way. But, oil company's bread and butter, their real income, comes from oil and refined oil products. Why wouldn't they fight to keep their market? It's just the natural survival instinct to do so.
