SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (Dow Jones)--North Face Inc. (TNFI) said Arthur D. Little confirmed that North Face will be awarded a subcontract worth up to $20 million for design and development of a modular integrated load system for backpacks for the Army.

In a press release Wednesday, North Face said the contract for design and development of the Modular Body Armor/Modular Load System includes options for the production of more than 100,000 units over the next seven years. If all production options are exercised, North Face estimates its maximum revenues would be about $20 million, recognized from 1999 to 2003.

North Face designs and distributes outerwear, skiwear, sportswear, tents, sleeping bags and backpacks.
