Alan and Scott, as has already been mentioned, orthodoxy is a subject that cannot be completely dissected and conclusions made based upon what we can discuss on a thread.
Alan, the millenium is the present reign of the souls of deceased believers with Christ in heaven. I believe also that the Kingdom of God is now present as God rules us in word and spirit although I look forward to a glorious, future reign with Christ in a perfect kingdom on the new heavens and earth.
Scott, Jesus did not know the exact day of the Apocalyps although he knew all of the signs that would precede it. (See the Olivet Discourse in Matthew.)
If all of the Bible truths I presented does not cause you enough curiousity to study it yourself, then I regret that I have been unable to make you wonder what the disciples and Christ were talking about.
Preterism is well known for accepting Bible truth ahead of the church creeds. When any doctrine is discussed, we always put Bible truths ahead of creedal orthodoxy. That is why some are quick to label us as heretics. (How tawdry of these people.) They do so, imo, because they feel their credibility threatened by Scripture Solara.
R.C Sproul commented, "people have attacked the credibility of Jesus. Maybe some church fathers have made a mistake. Maybe our favorite theologians have made a mistake.I can abide with that. I can't abide with Jesus being a false prophet." (Sproul has also stated he does see a lot of merit in the Preterist views.)
