Why not? Your arguments make perfect sense from the Israeli viewpoint. There are a number of reasons why Israelis might want statehood. I can’t think of one good reason why Americans would want it. Of course if Israelis ever got it – which of course they won’t – they might not find it so pleasant. The Palestinian population would become US citizens as well, with exactly the same rights that the Jewish population would have. They would no longer need bombs, they’d have the court system. I don’t think a lot of Israelis would find that very congenial
