re: The nice thing is that other techies don't notice.

The techies I worked with certainly would. They were conditioned to do so. It was part of their job.

Even if the FSTW techies didn't notice, the other personnel who review their site should have noticed. Especially the management level. A company's web site can be the initial contact with a prospect. It makes a lasting impression. Simple mistakes like that indicate sloppiness.

Ten to one says that "techies" didn't write the sub-heading in that Press Release that ended up on the web site. It's spelled correctly in the official PR. Now, why would somebody re-type it? Ever heard of cut-and-paste? That would be the typical process. So, the original PR was probably in error. Somebody must have noticed the error prior to its release to the news wire and corrected it at that time. But, nobody went back to correct the web site version.

FSTW's quality control is lax, and has been for a long time. That's not a good sign. When simple spelling errors slip by the editors, it certainly doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about the overall quality effort of other facets of the organization. Including the technology.

Hank thinks I'm being too picky about the T's being crossed and the I's being dotted. Maybe so. I doubt it.

Mistakes happen. They're unavoidable. But there shouldn't be a trend of them.

Quality control should be an attitude, not an effort. It should be part of the corporate image. It flows down from the top.
