'I don’t think “we” are obligated to establish a code of conduct ..... The important thing, to me, is developing a framework within which such issues can be addressed multilaterally.'

This is the core of it, right here ... there is a small group of muslim terrorists out there who presumably contend that their specific interpretation of their chosen scripture should dominate the planet, they are supported by perhaps a few millions of adherents to their version of faith .... there is a small group in control of Washington DC who clearly contend that their specific interpretation of their chosen scripture should dominate the planet, they are supported by perhaps a few millions of adherents to their version of faith

Then there are the rest of us, around six billions, who hold with neither scripture and who have no particular wish to be dominated at this time, thank you very much Messrs bin Laden and Bush et al .... the UN may be an institution in sore need of repair or replacement, very well then, let us repair or replace it - this above all is what is important
