the people to whom you refer love 'this country' and this species and this planet more effectively and intelligently than those for whom the first recourse is invariably the compulsion of the bayonet?

I take you are from Mexico, and I am not going to start a discussion of the US's expansion during the 19th Century. Quoting our Politicians during that period is an easy way to prove whatever Foreign Policy point you want to make. We were strong in the Americas, and weak World Wide.

I don't think waiting 12 years to remove Saddam makes me one of "those for whom the first recourse is invariably the compulsion of the bayonet?", as you suggest.

That "the people to whom you refer love 'this country' and this species and this planet more effectively and intelligently" are the ones who are opposing this war is a concept firmly believed by the anti-war crowd. This concept is really quite nauseating to those of us who find it to be moralistic nonsense.
