Carter's view is supported by the vast majority of world opinion, and the majority of Americans as well. Without the UN support we're renegades. We become the aggressors. It's not as if Iraq has attacked us of directly threatened us. This isn't even Afghanistan where Saddam is hiding culprits. Everything Bushies tell us is theoretical, as is the Bush post-war plan. The fact is, Bushies just dont know what this war will unleash. Doesn't even know for sure if Saddam has any WMD because no one's foudn any. I'm not saying he doesn't by the way. Maybe it will turn out great but the odds are against us. Not smart. And extemely expensive at a time when we're running up record deficits and our economy is in the toilet. As Kerry says "we should go to war when we HAVE to not just because we WANT to". That's just smart. And has always been the American Way except for the two times the public was lied to (as they are being lied to again now), the Spanish-American War and the Vietnam War.
