My Grandfather who died 25 years ago served in the Canadian infantry and was shot in the gut at Vimy. He crawled several miles until he was saved by a unit of the Red Cross.

The only reason Owen joined up was so he could travel over seas and beat up his uncle who used to boss him after school in his job as a water boy in a Welsh coal mine.

If living today he would be 105.
