Wrong:

But, once any group of people achieve that self-discipline, that Will To Freedom, they are unstoppable. No Stalin, no Mao, no Bin Laden, no Khomeini, can control them. And they proved it, in the streets of Leipzig and E. Berlin and Prague and Moscow and Warsaw. Non-violence fails, not because of the degree of evil of the Stalins and Khomeinis, but because of a lack of discipline and courage in those who want freedom. Non-violence works, in the real world. All it takes is a willingness to say, "Give me Liberty, or give me death."

Stalin, Mao, and Assad Sr, as Saddam does, had the will to kill those folk.

The last leaders of the late Soviet Union did not have the desire to kill millions of their own people.

You are again confusing Saddam's or Osama's mindset with that of a reasonable person like yourself. This is a grave error.

You can be quite sure Saddam will give them death. No point in doing it in Iraq.

On the other hand it would work against Sharon.

A Gandhian strategy is just that, a strategy - applicable some places and times and not others.

The irresponsible waste of lives of non-violent protestors is just as wasteful and unethical as that of soldiers by careless military leaders.

.......................

There is nothing "defensive" about sending 300,000 soldiers to the other side of the world, and attacking a nation that has not attacked us.

Indeed. The US has been at war with Iraq since the Gulf War started. It never ended because Iraq violated the armistice agreement. It continues to violate it.

The solution to that particular problem is regime change.

.....................................

By Western civilization I mean the ideals which people in the West have embraced in modern times and the pursuits based on these ideals.

Like all anti-modernists since the counter-reformation he then produces the usual lies:

The supremacy of brute force, worshipping money as God, spending most of one?s time in seeking worldly happiness, breathtaking risks in pursuit of worldly enjoyments of all kinds, the expenditure of limitless mental energy on efforts to multiply the power of machinery, the expenditure on the invention of means of destruction, the moral righteousness which looks down upon people outside Europe,?this civilization in my view, deserves to be altogether rejected.-Gandhi

These aren't ideals. They aren't even evil ideals. They are activities some Westerners undertake. He doesn't have the nerve to list the ideals of Western civilization.

If you read (as I have) the criticisms of the West made by the Islamists, they make a similar list of our faults.

You bought the lie.
