Meanwhile the W threatens the ENTIRE US economy and the housing industry Fannie Mae plunges on comments by St. Louis Fed President Poole (FNM) 59.42 -3.78: -- Update -- As we reported at 09:11, St Louis Fed President Poole said this morning that a "crisis is possible" for FNM and FRE and that they pose a threat to the economy if they fail. The stocks have plunged in reaction to this (FNM -6%, FRE -6.5%). We are now hearing that rumors that Poole is taking back his comments surrounding the GSEs. However this is being downplayed by others we speak to. CC
