The new generation of "wow" weapons are lasers. Amazing stuff, really Buck Rogers. We have in development an airborne laser mounted in a 747 to shoot down ballistic missiles, a laser cannon mounted on the JSF, and a ground based laser that is supposed to have successfully been tested in shooting down artillery shells as well as ballistic missiles.
