The League of Nations was still talking disarmament six years later, in this 1938 Disarmament report:

Germany was not joining in the discussion. The U.S., unfortunately, was in the grips of an isolationist fervor and embraced the concept of unilateral disarmament rather than confrontation of those who armed themselves while espousing hatred.

BTW, those Hitler and Hussein quotes I posted last week, the second quote was from Hitler around the time of this disarmament report, and the first was from Hussein earlier this year or late last year. Both were made while international bodies had outlawed their arms buildups in declarations that were neither being observed nor enforced.
