Russ Duker, one of the nominees to fill a committee vacancy, said the resignation ``means we can get back to business and not have this public distraction from supporting the president.''


I think this is a telling statement. Apparently many in the Republican party feel their highest calling is to support the President, not to formulate and promote policies and ideas that they can live with.
