We get what we deserve for electing a lawyer from Quebec to run the country when he and his buddy almost spent us into bankruptcy 35 years ago. On one hand Chretien does not make many mistakes. But when he does they are doozies. One billion for gun control we don't need as we are probably the safest gun nation on earth. One billion giveaway to liberal cronies with no documentation and he blames it on a junior minister. Starvation of the provinces transfers for two consecutive terms make them look good financially. But it is robbing peter to pay the paulficit. Now Kyoto, and let's-kill-mining regulations. they just beat up on who they don't like. Ten million gas guzzling cars spewing out monoxide and oxide and he will put a cork in it by crippling industry. Everybody in rickshaws is not a solution.

Mining provides 40% of our foreign exchange. Without it he would not be able to misspend the money he is misspending. We would be broke. Our car industry will not be paying us a dime soon. Too many Hyundais. We don't own a single car plant. The US is out to kill our forest exports. We cannot sell software to microsoft, or colour TV's to the Japanese, and we don't make much else, so we had better stick to what we know for a few decades.

At times like these we don't need less incentive for Canadians to get off their ass. They are beat down as far as they can go.

Perhaps that is his idea.

We should pass a law. Not more lawyers in Parliament. The English had this law for ten centuries believe it or not. It worked for them. The commons was just that. Citizens. Not professional thieves. And through a system of petitions they listened to the people. We no longer have a democracy. Nobody listens to the people. Liberal opinion polls are manufactured to support their own fuzzy minded idealism.
