If we weren't going to let the U.N. play out their hand if things turned sour then we never should have brought this up there in the first place. The U.S. should have just built up our presence in the gulf and out support from behind the scenes. Then just strike hard as hell. The blunder is trying to satisfy everybody - from the right wingers who want to convert the world over night to the left wingers who will never be pleased. (I'm purposely using extremes).
