The Greater Threat The New York Times March 10, 2003 To the Editor: Re " Study Raises Estimate of the Nation's Uninsured" (news article, March 5):: When I read the report that nearly a third of the American population younger than 65 were without health insurance at some time during the last two years, I contemplated the awful predicament of my recently unemployed patient, now uninsured and unable to obtain necessary tests and treatment for his heart disease. This made me wonder: is the well-being of the American public threatened more by the tyrant in the Middle East, or by our colossal failure to provide our own people with health care? CHARLES L.
