Things do change fast, but if France was confident of their position, they would not be threatening a veto.

And far from being creamed, given where things stand today, he cannot lose by calling for a vote. Which is the point.

It is easy in hindsight to say we should not have proposed a 2nd resolution. But this was done for the sake of Allies and it is all water under the bridge.

Right here, right now, calling for the vote was the best move.
