Rowan's Palmer Says U.S. Headed for `Wreck' Over Gas Shortage By Amy Hellickson Houston, March 11, 08:15 (Bloomberg) -- Rowan Cos. Chief Executive Officer Robert Palmer said the U.S. faces a ``train wreck'' with a shortage of natural gas resources. ``We are running out of gas,'' Palmer said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. ``Consumption is increasing and production is on the decline. And there's some concern that some of the largest natural gas basins may be depleted.'' Rowan drills on contract for oil and natural-gas producers. Palmer plans to retire as chief executive officer May 1.
