I posted this on Kens thread. I ask the same question here. How can we give peace a chance. If inspections and containment are to be the policy as outlined by chirac de sade, america in effect will become his "hessians".

I have been avoiding the thread for the past couple of days to rid myself of the clutter. I come back with a question for the thread gurus.
If, UN approval is a requirement for war along with inspections, why dont potential vetoers offer to place their fair share of troops in the desert as inspections drag on over the spring and summer months? I have heard nothing of such an offer.
It seems to me that Chirac is placing American troops at great risk of terrorist attack, and degradation of capability, by arguing for increased inspectons knowing full well that only the threat of force can make him cooperate even a little. Where are the troops? Where are the francs to support those troops? mike
