Bush Sets New Deadline for D.C. Cherry Blossoms
(2003-03-10) -- The White House has extended until March 22 the deadline for cherry trees in the District of Columbia to bloom.

As horticulturists continue their daily inspections regimen, President Bush is reportedly tiring of looking at the bare trees, and has threatened to cut them down and have new ones planted if they fail to bloom by the new deadline.

"I'm a patient man," the President said. "The tree experts keep telling me they're finding evidence of little buds and such. But when the tourists get here, they don't want to look at buds, they want to see pink flowers. It's time for these trees to show their colors."
