Just as Saddam has had the forsight to make France, Germany and Russia his pawns by assigning those countries huge multibillion dollar oil deals

Would that be the same foresight with which Saudi Arabia and Kuwait made US their "pawns"?

it is also plausible that the forged documents were planted by the Iraqi secret service with the aim of eventually discrediting the US when it pulls the document out of its hat.

So you accept the CIA is run by incompetent people who cannot tell between an authentic document and one forged by the stone age technology of the Iraqis?

when its [the UN's] membership has so many interests at cross purposes

So? Is it news to you that countries protect their interests and that is a factor, along with what they believe is "the right thing to do", in the determination of their foreign policy?

Countries in the UN have their interests to look after. So does the US.

France has more than $38 billion dollars at stake to maintain the status quo in Iraq.

Let us make the distinction between "France" and "French corporations".

While French corporations have interests at stake in Iraq, France is perhaps one of the less bothered countries on earth regarding oil - 80% of France's energy needs is met by nuclear power plants.

Compare this to the US, who consumes about half of the world's oil production.

Can you say the US has no interests in Iraq?

The whole of the middle east is going to crap and threatening the U.S

Please explain. How do you think "the Middle East is going to crap" and how exactly is invading Iraq going to help? I am especially interested in your justification for saying that "the whole middle east" is "threatening the US".
