The connection between Saddam and AQ you ask. I view him as a regional problem that is spilling over to North America. The middle east is ruled by quacks, despots, monarchists, women haters and it's all getting out of hand. Saddam plays a role in supporting Palestinian terror, believe it or not. Inflaming that situation helps to inflame the views of other Arabs against the US. He appears, to me, to be a master of creating situations where he pits people against each other for his own designs. (ie France, Germany and Russia with a collective monetary interest approaching $100-billion) I think he screws with all middle east countries and I believe those countries will celebrate the day he is deposed. He creates regional animosity among his Arab neighbors, which again, often gets blamed on the U.S. Saddam will use whatever device he can to create dissension on the world stage and if he can use AQ then he would. Dump Saddam and the world and the US will be a safer place, imo. And less of a safe place for the likes of AQ.
