Tue March 11, 2003 02:51 PM ET
HOUSTON, March 11 (Reuters) - Halliburton Co. HAL.N on Tuesday said it sold its pipeline system business for $136 million to a European buyout group, a move that is part of the No. 2 oilfield services company's plan to sell assets that are not part of its main business.
The Houston company sold its Wellstream business to Candover Partners Ltd. Wellstream is a provider of spoolable pipeline products and systems.

The deal includes manufacturing plants in both the U.K. and Florida, as well as some assets and contracts in Brazil, the company said in a statement.

Shares of Halliburton were down 35 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $19.79 in afternoon trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
