hi geoff. please understand a simple point. Canada is currently in a position where we are involved whether we like it or not. that is not fun. We are allies of the US, and will support you through thick and thin. Everything in canada is tied to the US. It is not our lack of understanding that needs to be addressed. The links and ties are deep. It likely does not matter to many in the US, but there was nothing... nothing being broadcast on any radio station or TV station for weeks other than coverage of the tragedies of 911. It's just a border. That being said, the US is flatly making decisions on what they plan to do in the middle east, and really in the world right now. Whether it is in fact being done to protect american lives or not, those of us that are affected (directly i must add) by those decisions certainly have the right to question and scrutinize those decisions. It is a right that every american and candian both would die fighting to protect. It is as simple as that. And if someone suggests ulterior motives or agendas in the spirit of debate, learning and understanding, it is their right to do so. "The Iraq regime, after perfecting torture (well-documented) and terrorism on its own people (VX nerve gas on Kurds), attempted to export this terrorism to Iran and Kuwait. America, Canada and it's allies restored stability to a strategic region, the Middle East." This is in fact a very good example of such a comment. It is my hope that you would not be prevented from suggesting it elsewhere. martin PS. our beer is good, but i still like czech beer better also, i will not post on this anymore as this is al's contest thread. PM's are cool though.
