I think you are wrong. I remember people who used to say that Japan was the future. Now everyone is convinced that China is the future.

What we overlooked about Japan and what we are overlooking about China is that their societies are rigid and not flexible. Thus they cannot change with the times.

China is even worse than Japan. Right now the government is subsidizing all kinds of businesses that are bleeding money. How long can this continue? Sooner or later this will come home to roost. I think China will be very successful for a while, but when the world economy changes again, I doubt they will be quick enough to adapt and they likely will go the way of Japan.
