I view him [Saddam] as a regional problem that is spilling over to North America.

That much is obvious. My question is "How"?

Tell us. How is the Iraqi problem "spilling over" the US? Is there a connection between Saddam and 9/11 that you would like to share with the rest of us?

He creates regional animosity among his Arab neighbors, which again, often gets blamed on the U.S.

You seem to be assuming that Middle Eastern people and states are so dumb that they cannot tell when something is Saddam's meddling or that of the US?

I would be interested in how this theory of yours applies to the Israel/Palestinian problem, which, after all, is the main source of anti-US feeling in the region as per every single poll ever conducted on the subject, a finding my experience confirms.

Would you say it is actually Saddam's fault that the US is hated in the Middle East for its unconditional support of Israel in its military incursion and ever-increasing settlements in Palestinian territories?

Dump Saddam and the world and the US will be a safer place, imo.

I would say the same for quite a few other leaders. Some millions of people who have been marching every weekend across the globe for the past month or so would say the same about Bush. Are you saying whenever the leader of a country is viewed in this light, his country should be invaded and its civilians elevated to the ranks of "collateral damage"?

I wonder if you realize the full impact of what you are suggesting. A world with no respect for sovereignty, where countries can be invaded on a whim. Where countries will no doubt do all they can to be armed to the teeth to deter such attacks based on some imagined future threat.
