I suggest you listen to the Ivanhoe presentation about Mongolia.

Sure doesn't sound like the China we knew under Mao. It looks like the Chinese and local government are going about the copper and gold mine in a very sensible way. The environmental issues are considered, they examined mining laws in Chile and elsewhere, and they are giving all the right signals that they mean business.

The Japanese strike me as an inherently more insular people than the Chinese. The Communist thing was a means to an end, not an ideology the Chinese people are drawn towards. They are awakening to their potential power and they mean to flex it. They're not interested in exporting an ideological China Inc., and will take the best parts of ALL other economic systems.

The old Chinese business and other system you refer to is rapidly being subsumed into the new. Listen to those who are "on the ground" over there.
