I don't think it was hate speech. It does seem like he is apologizing for a statement that he felt was justified, in response to PC bullying.

When the 911 attacks occured, the populace wanted to hear from the leaders of the Islamic community. We wanted to hear that these representatives would speak boldly against terrorism. Obviously, the opinion of Islamic leaders would have an effect on whether or not the 1billion plus members of the Islamic religion would come out for or against the American position; and this in turn would have an effect on how our government viewed terrorism in the world. Pretty much everyone agreed the spokes persons should make their positions known.

Moran has observed that the leaders of the Jewish community are influential as well. Duhhh... There is a major stake in this for Israel for which the majority of the Jewish spokes persons are in agreement. Moran is obviously anti-war and believes that the voice of Jewish spokespersons, if that voice were protesting the war, could have an impact on the course of our government. duh..

Shame on Moran for cowing...

"We can only wish that an even worse fate awaits Moran whose apology cannot gloss over his anti-semitism."

Someone explain to me how his remarks were anti-semitic?

He said the voice of the Jewish community is influential in Middle Eastern affairs. Are they not? He said that if they were to speak out against the position of our government it could influence our position. Would it have no effect if they would have done this? They have, for the most part, supported the mobilization and not spoken against it. They are stereotypically not hawks or supportive of mobilization to war. They may even have a leaning towards anti-war thinking, as in vietnam. What other major stake holding group has been so unified in support of the effort?
