And here's a nasty little thought -

What if Saddam lets the war go on while he takes a little vacation over in Syria. Maybe visits with Bin Laden's mother for a while.

And the US attacks in all it's glory and with all the collateral damage. And fails to find any evidence of chemical weapons (either destroyed already by Saddam or so well buried that they will never be found).

Imagine the fallout from that scenario - Saddam winning a great "moral victory" by exposing unjustified US aggression.

Or an alternative scenario where the Iraqi troops just stand down and let the troops in unchallenged while leaving the existing government intact.

I sure hope that the Administration has considered these scenarios carefully. Because if Saddam were to play this out skillfully he might just end up back in control of the country with all UN sanctions lifted.
