Z, <Can you explain that statement a bit further?>
Thanks to the overuse of the term "racism," people are now too scared to talk about race relations. Instead of open dialogue and frank discussion, the issue is now taboo, for people would rather not risk saying something the Thought Police won't like.
Not only that, but the whole issue of race becomes trivialized. The focus on mere symbols and language takes attention away from the bigger picture, which is fairness, justice, and equal opportunity. For example, how will taking down the Confederate Flag advance the cause of race relations? The honest people will be offended and alienated, while the racists will only be emboldened.
Lastly, the concept of "I can tolerate anything but intolerance" is bunk. Liberally (no pun intended) shouting "racism" everywhere you go is not advancing the cause of tolerance. Instead, it's a form of thought control, one that uses fear, rhetoric, and mob rule to advance their way of thinking. Ironically, these tactics are similar to what the white supremacists themselves used back during their time. (I know this is a tough analogy to accept, but it's one you cannot ignore.)
