as,

re:Why is disarming Saddam worth 200 billion, thousands of American lives, hundreds of thousands of lost jobs and fractured alliances around the world? Not to mention all the other costs like falling markets and rising energy prices?
The fact is Bush is responsible for getting us into this costly position. Now how does he get us out? He'd left unilateral war as his only option. So he's as cornered as Saddam. And that was really not smart. If Saddam blows up his oil-fields we pay for everything.

You're holding Bush responsible for every action of Saddam. We could do the same and blame Clinton for not demanding the inspectors go back in during his time.

Saddam will be disarmed.
Energy prices will fall.
The stock market will recover.
Alliances will be rebuilt.
The Congress approved Bush's plan.
The UN voted unanimously to pursue this course.
