[James Q. Crowe Joins Board of Qwest Communications]

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1997--Qwest Communications International Inc. (NASDAQ:QWST) today announced that James Q. Crowe has been elected a director of the company.

Crowe is president and chief executive officer of Kiewit Diversified Group, Inc., a diversified corporation with interests in mining, telecommunications, energy and infrastructure privatization and development, a position he assumed last month. Previously he was chairman and chief executive officer of MFS Communications Company, Inc., a provider of telecommunications services for businesses and government, until the company merged with Worlcom, Inc. earlier this year.

In addition to serving on the board of Qwest, Crowe is a director of Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc., CalEnergy, Inc., and C-TEC Corp.
