First, the original plan was for the 101st to come in through Turkey and shore up the northern oil wells. Recently I heard a report that the 101st is in Kuwait but some of its equipment is still at sea. Does this mean its equipment is off the coast of Turkey while the soldiers themselves are in Kuwait? Hey, what a way to utilize our nation's best fighting force--put 'em in without their equipment!

As I understand it, the stuff that's on the ships off Turkey is primarily heavy armour. For the mission that you describe for the 101st, it's all light armour that can be air dropped and along with air support they can do their mission....if they knew where the WMD are...which we don't. Which means there is some probability that we might bomb the WMD storage inadvertently and release the agents ourselves.

We do know that Iraq did unilaterally destroy at least some WMD in 1991, we assume Iraq is lying when they said they destroyed all of it.

Suppose, we do invade Iraq without UN approval and we don't find any WMD...wouldn't that be a laugh.
