Saddam didn't do anything to start this war except refuse to cooperate (that much) with the UN. Saddam is a creep, but this is GW Bush's war and, it looks like, his alone to fight. With our money and military. And Bush still has not provided any clear evidence of terrorist connections.

It's very questionable if anything about this war will help our interests. It is very risky at best, as it may end up hurting our interests. Obviously it already has. My guess is we'll be lucky if the war doesn't make things worse. Very lucky.

You're saying all the damage done will be healed after the war. But what if it's not such a quick decisive victory? What if Saddam's Last Stand is the bloodiest costliest thing in our lifetimes. BLACKHAWK DOWN times 50. And what if he blows up his oil-fields? Still worth it to you?

After that, what if this is just the first of Bush's wars "for peace"? What if he takes on Iran? Still with him? And what if North Korea sttacks the south while we're busy in the Middle East? Still worth it? Get my drift?

It's just not smart or necessary. It's an elective war not triggered by any act of the enemy except maybe more than a decade ago, when Bush's father should have finished it.
