Those of us who have real computers and monitors with resolutions at or above 1280x1024 find sites like this unworkable. I can't stand seeing the entire page crunched into half my screen.

The first thing I did after seeing the beta was send an email to fuss about the fixed width. Reading messages that occupy only 40% of the width of my 1600 by 1200 screen isn't a problem for me--I find newspaper-like columns are easier to read--but the wrapping that occurs on pages like SubjectMarks is unacceptable. Taking up five lines for a wrapped date really obviates the objective of getting more "above the fold." My SubjectMarks page has only five items visible. It's going to wear out my page-down finger and my patience pretty quickly.
