Well, Blair's chosen to make this rod for his own back..

IMO the saddest point (for him) is that he really does feel it as a matter of principle, that Saddam is too evil to remain in power, and that was/is why he's so keen on 'influencing' the US to work to remove him... and probably others to follow. I'm not sure if he realised that the neocons and Likudniks are working for not dissimilar ends but completely different rationales...
