You can score bullion at coinshops. I have tried a few and like this online one so far tulving.com. Local shops are probably worth looking into once you have a feel for prices and what you want. Depending on how much and what you buy, you may need gold owning accessories like a magnifying glass, a giant safe bolted to the floor, and a 12 ga. auto loader.

I personally go for bullion or bullion coins with no added collector value. This means that my investment will not lose value when I grab fistfulls of it and throw it in the air while I laugh maniacally.
