Interesting. I suppose it is best for the named parties to never take a vacation in Belgium :) but that does not necessarily invalidate court's decision. The real place for resolving these issues is in an international body. I did not like invasion of Panama on the grounds of justice. It would have been considerably better if US had presented evidence to the world court and then moved in. As it stands, the international stage is the equivalent of medieval times where every thug would put on armor and call himself a gentleman and a knight, then after plundering the neighboring villages would claim moral superiority. That world ended not because the upper class became more conscientious, but because they realized that benefits of ethical law and order outweighed the short term gains that sometimes is made from law of the jungle. Similarly, the sooner world leaders recognize that our world is now a global village which needs universal and equitable law and order, the sooner humanity can deal with its core survival issues. As the only superpower left, the United States is in the best position to fulfill this destiny. Otherwise some day we will wake to a most horrifying world and then it will be too late to start planning for world order. Then only a massive unthinkable bloodshed will burn out the pent up anger and fear until exhaustion and regret will bring an end to it. Sun Tzu
