wait for a consensus from the rest of the world. If Saddam does something, you will have a consensus.

Consensus to do what?? We already know that France and Russia have economic interests in backing Saddam. Interests that caused them to increase their opposition to US proposals to forcibly disarm Saddam if he failed to comply with 1441..

And there WAS a consensus with 1441.. In fact, it was UNANIMOUS... 15-0.. That's a consensus...

There was nothing in 1441 that stated that the US had to reach a consensus to take action.

Nor was their anything in 678 that stated that nations could use military force against Saddam to liberate Kuwait (read it for yourself)..

All it stated was that member states are requested to "use all necessary force to retore peace and international stability to the region"..

The UN did NOT say to use military force, but left that option up to individual members.

And that has almost ALWAYS been the case.. The UN has never specifically authorized the use of military force, only "all necessary means", which by default, include military force.

So why the h@ll you supported Desert Storm is a mystery to me...

Personally, I think it's because Bush is President and you oppose anything he proposes.
