Goodness, Tim, I saw that movie in 1963. I'm lucky if I can remember what I did yesterday. I read the book, as well, and I think they were close, but I can't say that with any assurance. My recollection of the times was that Americans were pretty much universally unaware of what a bad impression we were making overseas with our arrogance and self-centeredness. The book and movie seemed to wake people up and improvements were made. I don't know when that started to swing back or even, for sure, that it has. There will always be some resentment no matter what we do.
