I think the reason why you see those poll results--and I might add it's a FoxNews poll, a media entity with a certain agenda--is why we see the reason keeps changing as to why this war is supposedly needed. The Bush Administration's primary focus has not been in convincing the UN Security council, rather it's been in convincing the American people. That's why I think we're seeing elevated alerts, supposed intelligence which later is determined faulty or fraudulent, the capture of the guy who we already took credit for killing back in September, the supposed capture of Bin Ladin's two sons, and all the scare reports forthcoming from Iraq, changed uniforms (anyone ever figure out the actual source to that story, other than an official declining to state his source?), and on and on.
Basically, Bush has a base that won't leave him, and the US propaganda campaign has been aptly aimed at a genuinely concerned Middle America. This Administration has been playing on people's fears.
Hawk, can you answer a question? I've heard numerous times that the 101st is supposed to go in and capture the weapons of mass destruction. How does the 101st know where these weapons are, and if they do know where they are why haven't the UN weapons inspectors been informed? |
