Party time, Hard to say how much was fakery and how much truth as it gets spun and wiggled every which way.
I do know we have no true oil shortage.
Canadian oil sands are larger than the Middle east oil, but cost about $8 a barrel to produce. Oil shale is 50 times as large as the middle east but costs $15-25 to produce.
Middle east costs 50 cents a barrel to pump out of the ground, however with oil at or above $25/bbl, then all these collateral sources will develop.
geotimes.org and there are more oil sand areas to find. In addition the oil shales are 100 times as extensive, but have a lot less oil in them, which explains the extra cost of production.
