Neocon, the common good is at the root of belief for all who care and want the best for human beings on earth. Libertarians are simply no exception. If a governmental action is perceived by Libertarians to harm the common good, then it becomes fair to say they don't see said governmental action - taken in the "name of the common good" - as in fact likely being, in the end, to the common good. There is lots of evidence to back them up, IMO. If Correct - and I believe so as surely as I do believe Freedom Wo.rks - there is nothing dangerously radical about libertarians in general, just something incredibly thoughtful and right and good for the common good.

The sad but true difference between the Bin Laden comparison and your anecdotal characterization of some Libertarians is that Bin Laden has the element of centralized control very much in common with your "certain kind of society"(your brand of conservatism), whereas so-called Libertarians who would support McVeigh have in that respect nothing in common with the tenants of Libertarianism. IMO, an overlooked but important truism is in fact that

Freedom Works(so like Fangorn, I too know why I'm not a conservative. Much of the worst we face has indeed been promoted by conservatives who mistakenly believed in the power of government to provide for the common good through certain less than benign interventions)
