Yes.

re: Apple's involvement. OS 8.01 (scheduled for release in September I believe) will allow the new Mac OS to run on a CHRP machine. If I'm not mistaken, the delay in getting this on the street is what the cloners are complaining about.

I'd feel a lot more sympathetic to the cloners if I thought their business plans included expanding the Mac OS base to new users, rather than just cherry-picking Apple's existing customers. Still, for appearance sake, Apple needs to stay committed to supporting the clones. Hopefully, we'll have licensing deals in place soon and this clone maker flap will blow over.
