Yes--although in this particular instance, he was voicing opinions that are pretty common among a certain set of academic/policy wonk/technocrat types. That is, when he writes up these points for Newsweek, it'll be with his individual style, but it will be expressing what more than a few of us feel these days. For example, I bet everything he said is in line with that Wohlforth/Brooks FA article from last summer...

FZ was strong in scoring points against Hoffman's positions. I was suprised at how FZ had no hesitation in presenting his considerably different viewpoints.

No one has ever noted a dearth of self-confidence in any member of the Zakaria family.

been there, done that--but would be happy to do it again if asked, which happens now and then. Nearly did the Daily Show the other night--now that would have been fun!
